Vice Chairman of the Board
Chris Hobson, Senior Vice President Research and Environmental Affairs, joined Southern Company in 1973. He previously held positions as Environmental Laboratory Manager, Licensing and Compliance Manager, and Coordinator of Agency Affairs in Washington, D.C.
In addition to his responsibilities associated with environmental issues for Southern Company, Chris is responsible for the development of technologies that support the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity.
Southern Company's efforts include the development of coal gasification technology at its Power Systems Development Facility in Wilsonville, Alabama as well as advancing renewable and energy efficiency technologies.
